1.Download the plugin
Start here. Click the button below to download the Executive Assistant plugin. It saves to your Downloads as a .plugin file called ea-executive-assistant.plugin. You install it in the next step.
↓Executive Assistant plugin v0.2.02.Install the plugin
Load the file you just downloaded into Claude. It installs as a local plugin:
- In the Cowork desktop app, open Customize → Plugins (same place as connectors).
- Click Upload local plugin, choose the ea-executive-assistant.plugin file from your Downloads, and click Upload.
- Confirm the install. If it was instead shared with you inside a chat, you can just press the install button on the plugin preview.
3.Create your Composio account
Free to start. This is the only thing you do on the Composio website. Once you are in, switch to the Composio For You view using the dropdown in the top-left, not Platform.
Sign up for Composio → Already have an account? Log in →4.Connect Composio to Claude
This links Composio to Claude so your EA can reach your tools. No Terminal, no code. You paste one link into Claude, once. You do this a single time and it unlocks every tool Composio supports, so you never repeat this step.
- Copy this link: https://connect.composio.dev/mcp It is the same for everyone. It is also in your Composio dashboard, in the box marked MCP, with a copy icon beside it.
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors (same place you installed the plugin) and click Add custom connector.
- Give it a name (Composio works), paste the link in, and click Add.
- Claude opens a browser window. Sign in with the Composio account you just made and approve. When it finishes, Composio is connected to Claude.
Check it worked. Composio now shows in your connectors list in Claude.
That is the plumbing done. The next two steps are just approving the individual tools you want your EA to reach.
Stuck at any point? Send this page to us and we will walk you through it live.
5.Connect your email through Claude
Your EA cannot run without email. You do this from inside Claude, not on the Composio site.
- In Claude, ask it to connect my Gmail through Composio.
- Claude gives you a link. Click it.
- Sign in and approve in the browser window that opens.
- Repeat for every mailbox you want your EA to handle.
On Outlook? Ask for Outlook instead of Gmail. It is fiddlier than Gmail. It needs a work Microsoft account, not a personal @outlook.com or @hotmail.com, and your IT person may need to approve it first.
Check it worked. Ask Claude: what came into my inbox yesterday?
Required6.Connect your calendar
Same again. Your EA needs this to learn your week and to schedule.
- Ask Claude to connect my Google Calendar through Composio.
- Click the link it gives you.
- Sign in and approve.
On Outlook, ask for Outlook Calendar instead.
Check it worked. Ask Claude: what is on my calendar tomorrow?
Required7.Connect the daily tools you want
Connect only what you genuinely want your EA to check each morning, not what is merely interesting. Slack, Notion, Trello, your meeting notes tool, a CRM. You can add more any time later, just by asking your EA to connect them.
Optional8.Start a task on Opus 4.8
Open a new task in Cowork, set to Opus 4.8 on High effort. If you have an AI Business Brain project, start the task inside it so your EA can read it.
9.Run your EA setup
One command sets your EA up. It reads what your Brain already knows, studies your real inbox and calendar, has you name your EA along the way, and proposes an operating plan before it builds anything. It also captures your delegated authority: what your EA may do on its own, what it should check with you first, and what it must never touch.
Type this into Claude. Type it, do not paste it. Type /, start typing ea-setup, and pick ea-executive-assistant: ea-setup from the list, then send.
/ea-setup10.Approve your scheduled tasks' permissions
Two minutes. Do not skip it. Setup just installed two scheduled tasks, a daily briefing and an inbox handler. In the left menu click Scheduled, click into EA Daily Briefing, click Run now, and approve every permission it asks for. That one approved run clears the permissions, so from now on the tasks run quietly in the background.
One thing to know: scheduled tasks run while the Claude desktop app is open. Leave Claude running in the background if you want your briefing on time.
The account owner enables it once for everyone.
On a personal Claude plan you can install plugins and connectors yourself, so carry on. On a Team or Enterprise plan, members cannot install on their own. The owner enables them for the organisation first, then members refresh. If your install button is greyed out, this is almost always why. The owner goes to Settings or Customize, finds the organisation connectors and plugins, and enables the Executive Assistant plugin and Composio for the team. Claude's help docs keep the exact steps →
What to expect from setup.
- ·The setup is a conversation, not a form. Expect 30 to 45 minutes. You can pause and resume.
- ·It scans roughly your last month of email and a couple of months of calendar to learn your patterns. Nothing is changed or sent during the scan.
- ·Your EA ships with 23 pre-loaded operating rules drawn from running real executive inboxes, so it is sharp on day one. One of them: it checks the actual current time before ordering your day, and confirms the day, date, and time at the top of every briefing.
- ·It starts on the regular tier: it drafts and tags, but never files anything out of sight and never sends. Filing and sending unlock at the VIP tier, one category at a time, and sending stays off unless you switch it on.
- ·It finishes by showing you a sample briefing built from your real inbox and calendar, so you see exactly what tomorrow morning's will look like.
